An absolute novelty in Italy, Cantina Urbana was founded in Milan with the aim of producing a high quality citizen wine.

A project that aims to bring the world of craft and quality wine into contact with the most vibrant metropolitan area in Europe. Born from the passion and initiative of Michele Rimpici, Cantina Urbana – Wine Collective opens its doors in the Naviglio Pavese area (via Ascanio Sforza 87) to allow Milanese (and not only) to discover the world of craft wine, to see close up production, buy it or consume it on the spot, all without leaving the city. The most fascinating aspect is naturally the vinification, carried out directly by Cantina Urbana. The grapes are bought by trusted farmers chosen by Michele Rimpici himself, always looking for the authentic expression of the territory: whether they are Lombard or Sicilian grapes, they must be prized and with a strong personality. The common denominator of all suppliers is compliance with the “Cantina Urbana” protocol in terms of sustainability: all wines must be hand-crafted, with very low sulphite content. The plant is modern, equipped for optimal processing: there are a crusher, a bottling machine, steel vats and wooden barrels, but also the terracotta amphorae, which aim to enhance the traditional process of winemaking. The grapes arrive fresh and are processed until they become wine. The first selected grapes arrive in the cellar at the end of September to proceed with the vinification and production on two levels. In fact, there are three wines in bulk (red, white and rosé) and a bottled wine line. The first wine of Cantina Urbana is in the pipeline: the Croatina and Barbera grapes will go up the Naviglio Pavese to create an ideological link with the city and its inhabitants. And the wine – from the evocative name of Naviglio Rosso – will be aged in terracotta amphorae. Waiting for Naviglio Rosso Harvest 2018, Cantina Urbana will sell the wines that other Italian producers have made based on the taste and the rules of Rimpici, author of the selection of the grapes and the blend of the bottles available for purchase. The mantra of Cantina Urbana – Wine Collective is “make your own wine experience”: a personalized, all-round, personal and customizable experience, in an oasis of authenticity, where the passion for craft wine remains the fundamental element and brings together producers and consumers. In addition to the purchase of wines in the catalog, there also is the possibility of creating a personal blend based on one’s own tastes and needs. It is also possible to refine the previously created selections as well as to make ad hoc labels. From Friday, the 12th, – starting from 7 pm – the “number zero” of the WTF format (Wine Tasting Friends) will be staged, which aims to become a fixed weekly appointment. At guests disposal there will be 4 Tasting areas to be able to taste all the wine offer of the winery divided by categories with the possibility to also attend the bottling live (from 19.00 to 20.30).
