Perth is always mentioned after Sydney and Melbourne, but the Australian city has now become a hotspot, overcoming the economic crisis of local mining industry. Vibrant urban districts offer residents and tourists meeting points, shops, restaurants and after work facilities. In the heart of the city, a majestic building stands out surrounded by skyscrapers and next to public gardens; it cannot be overlooked when crossing the heritage district. The Old Treasury Buildings were former colonial offices operating from the second half of the nineteenth century and are part of the Cathedral Square complex. What we see today is the result of an architectural intervention made by Built studio that has maintained the original style and decoration as much as possible meeting today’s expectations. Treasury Buildings are extended on a surface of 16,000 sqm with a dozen of facilities, such as restaurants, cafes, shops, a yoga studio, a barbershop and conference and banquet halls.  The 48 rooms of Como Hotel are on the last three floors of the buildings. The designer Kerry Hill has chosen light and soft colors and minimalistic furniture to express his idea of elegance. This luxury and boutique hotel has two restaurants, a bar, a lounge and a rich library where guests can spend their afternoon. In the common area, there are leather chairs and lounges that inspire coziness. Floral prints of local artists Philippa and Alex Nikulinsky embellish the walls. The huge Postal Hall look like a European gallery with several shops. One of the strengths of the hotel is indeed the five-star restaurant located on the top floor, where guests can enjoy their dinner with a view of the cathedral square, Stirling Gardens, and the Swan River. Six-season menu of executive chef Jed Gerrard is inspired by indigenous philosophy and is truly recommended. If you wish to be pampered after a long day, head to the wellness area with a scenic swimming pool and chose the treatment of Shambhala spa that suits you best. The hotel is conceived as a public place and cannot be compared to other buildings in Perth. According to Condé Nast Traveler’s readers, it is the best hotel in Australia and New Zealand and the twelfth best hotel in the world. Info: https://www.comohotels.com/thetreasury
