In San Martino della Marruccina (Chieti), half way between the Adriatic Sea and the Majella National Park, there is the hub of Tenute Agricole Masciarelli, founded in 1978 by Gianni Masciarelli, an icon of the innovative Abruzzo viticulture and viniculture. Since 2008, in this area able to give the wine elegant aromas, Marina Cvetic continues with passion and sensitivity the activity launched by her husband Gianni. The company’s philosophy continues to follow his footsteps too: a production of about 2.5 million bottles a year, 300 hectares distributed in 4 provinces, 5 product lines – Classic, Gianni Masciarelli, Villa Gemma, Marina Cvetic, Grappa Semivicoli Castle (also barricade) – for a total of 18 labels, to which since few years a small olive production has been added. The season for Guides and Awards has opened immediately with two excellent results: Three Glasses by Gambero Rosso Italian Wines 2016, 95 points by the Essential Guide to Italian Wines 2016 Daniele Cernilli for Marina Cvetic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC Riserva 2013. This is an emblematic wine of the company’s history, in which it meets a selection of Montepulciano grapes from the finest Masciarelli vineyards (Cave, San Silvestro, Schiavone and Colle di Paolo, about 450 meters above sea level). A classic in the panorama of Italian red wines, with its unique identity and complex but very pleasant. Tenute Agricole Masciarelli also tell through the Villa Gemma Rosso, born in 1984 and became established over the years as one of the great red wines of Italy; or through the Marina Cvetic line, strongly supported by Gianni, 6 labels greatly appreciated both in Italy and abroad: Montepulciano and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Iskra (the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo vintage cru 2009 DOCG). Without forgetting the Franciacorta, the Burgundy, the Mosel Riesling Selection of Masciarelli, a quality portfolio of 11 companies mainly French and German carefully selected by Gianni Masciarelli in the sign of accuracy and excellence. Within the distributed lines, a leading role is played by labels Valori, produced in one of the best areas of DOC Montepulciano d’Abruzzo – and the only DOCG – in the province of Teramo. Connected by a deep friendship with Gianni Masciarelli and animated by an absolute respect for the land and the craft of the winemaker, Luigi Valori produces authentic wines, many of which are organic, pure expression of the territory. Behind the wine, Tenuta Agricola Masciarelli today produces an extra virgin olive oil Marina Cvetic – available in four varieties Leccino, Straight, Crusher, Carboncella – and works hard in the enhancement and promotion of Abruzzo through the Semivicoli Castle, a seventeenth century baronial building and relais de charme into the vineyards. The Castle has now become a cult wine tourism destination, international hospitality and gourmet.
