“Vele d’Epoca di Imperia” is back on September, from 7th to 11th, in the Ligurian town for a great celebration of its 30th birthday. Born in 1986, the biennial event is celebrating its nineteenth edition, which coincides with the third lap in the Mediterranean of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, an international regatta circuit reserved for vintage and classic sailboats, sponsored by Officine Panerai. Passion, history, traditions, fine hulls that are true objects of naval art, but also competition and physical fatigue are the ingredients of a charming atmosphere and unique event. An atmosphere that each edition is propagated throughout the ancient fishing village of Marina di Porto Maurizio and in the town of Imperia, just ravishing not only lovers and sailing enthusiasts but the whole audience that crowdes the dock to get to know these sea jewels, their history full of charm and
respect for the seafaring traditions. The big party begins in the morning with the races and then it continues in the evening with concerts, exhibitions, a photo exhibition, a dedicated meeting in collaboration with Boat Show, a major conference organized by the Commander Flavio Serafini – author of several historical books about sailing Marine and founder of the International Naval Museum of Imperia – and many other activities for everyone. Three evenings highlight: starting Thursday night with the second edition of the Race Cooking – Chef on Board, which will see the teams compete in the kitchen in the real sailors exuberant atmosphere. Friday night there will be the concert at the dock; finally, on Saturday the inevitable musical and fireworks spectacle will conclude the celebration of “Vele d’Epoca di Imperia” thirty birthday, lighting up with thousand gleams the sea and its queens.
