Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz opened the winter season with 40 completely renovated rooms and suites following an extensive renovation project carried out in collaboration with the award-winning New York design studio Champalimaud. The elegant makeover reflects the innovative spirit of the legendary hotel, which – while welcoming its guests since 1896 – continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s sought-after traveler. And this refurbishment further enhances the guest stay experience while preserving the Palace’s historic heritage. The result is a careful transformation of the spaces, sophisticated and functional but at the same time authentic and unique, designed with exactly what every guest is looking for in St. Moritz: adventure, glamor, exceptional service and comfort. The new room and suite categories include Deluxe Double Rooms, Signature Double Rooms, St. Moritz Suites (including the St. Moritz Two Bedroom Suite), as well as Deluxe Junior Suites with stunning lake views and Superior Double Rooms, overlooking the town. The newly designed lighting gives the spaces a warm atmosphere and each room is equipped with new technologies – such as Chromecast TV streaming and 5G network coverage.
designThe rooms and suites also feature the latest generation of Dyson air purifiers. The interiors are designed using a color palette that includes creamy white and shades of blue, and which recalls the surrounding alpine landscape. The spaces are embellished with bespoke embroidered fabrics, Chinese-style wall coverings and classic metal details inspired by the Palace’s rich heritage and individuality. The headboards of the beds have been created with fine bespoke dyed leather and the embroidery details are inspired by the flowers of the region. The modern furniture was specially made in Italy using locally sourced materials and was completed with period pieces, such as the sideboards collected over the years by the owner Hans Badrutt. Another highlight of Hans Badrutt’s collection are the fine pastel blue Persian rugs and a large crystal chandelier in the St. Moritz suite, made from a unique piece of natural quartz and hand-rubbed brass. (The 2020/21 winter rates at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel start at 750 Swiss francs for a double room. All reservations for the winter season allow cancellation up to 7 days before arrival. www.badruttspalace.com).
