The Robertaebasta Art Gallery in Milan is a point of reference for lovers of art and beauty with its art nouveau furniture, interior design and 20th century decorative arts. A heritage of beauty that has reached London from Brera.
Objects that come from all over the world, vintage books, diamonds, busts from 200 BC, works that range from Bansky to Picasso via contemporary art. All this and much more is the heritage of art and beauty of the historic Maison Robertaebasta whose owner Roberta Tagliavini has been an undisputed reference for the decorative arts of the 20th century and design for over 50 years, of those precious works destined to furnishing homes and environments all over the world thanks to their authenticity made of history, beauty and emotions. Alongside Roberta is her son Mattia Martinelli, an expert in 20th century decorative arts and interior design and expert at the Milan court, who has been entrusted with the management of the Maison since 1994. Bringing homes to life, making them magical through extraordinary and unique pieces: this is the mission of Roberta Tagliavini and her son Mattia. Nothing to do with the ephemeral or the “superfluous”, because luxury, unattainable houses, incomprehensible figures are a piece of society that exists and works and in turn drives the art economy.
The Art Gallery in Via Fiori Chiari collects the most historic signatures of the 20th century, both in terms of furnishings and works; those in Via Formentini and Via Solferino are dedicated to the most recent 20th century. To the galleries that animate the beating heart of Brera there is also that of London, where you can discover and admire works by famous authors such as Terragni, Giò Ponti, Borsani, Bugatti and Quarti, Lancia and Buffa for furniture; Venini, Barovier, Seguso, Salviati and De Poli for glass; Richard Ginori, Lenci, Giò Ponti, Melandri, Chini and Nonni for ceramics and porcelain. In recent years the collection has been enriched with elements and objects of lighting technology and refined design from the 1950s to the 1990s and numerous unique pieces. The force of communication or thought that Art manages to transmit is overwhelming. For the human being it thus becomes not only a purely aesthetic question of pleasure, but the possibility of always perceiving a new and different perspective. There is no possibility of remaining helpless in front of a work of art, but inevitably one is impressed. “Unfortunately, many still have an incorrect scholastic idea of a perhaps boring universe that has not been properly transmitted in our culture,” says Mattia Martinelli, who continues: “This is why it is important to organize exhibitions and events that attract young people and lead you to discover how intense it can be to let yourself be carried away by the emotion that a work of art can give you.”
Increasingly recognized on an international level, thanks also to the participation of the most important exhibitions including Brafa Bruxelles, Masterpiece London, International fine art and antique fair Montecarlo, Milan antiques Biennial, Paris Biennial, just to name a few, Robertaebasta won the medal of gold in the “Milan Productive” award and received the award from the Milanese Antique Dealers Union for distinction. And the Brera Design District – around 90 events a day during the Salone del Mobile with an average of 200 thousand visitors for the entire period – see her constantly as the protagonist. So much so that Roberta Tagliavini has become the undisputed queen of this universe of beauty even on television, conquering audiences and critics with her tireless work full of passion and a “vision” that takes into account sustainability, circular economy, valorization of Made in Italy but also internationality, artisans, artists, creatives and businesses. All strong elements that have attracted the general public, making Italians discover their love for antiques and collecting rare and curious objects. In her Galleries we talk about inclusion: Robertaebasta works with people who come from Italy and abroad, it has clients of all kinds, it speaks a universal language teaching art and know-how in an intuitive way, it lets us enter the most beautiful cities of Italy and will continue to do so in increasingly extraordinary places: Robertaebasta is the place where the history of 20th century design is preserved and continues to live without ever being out of fashion.
