It is a high quality wine, in spite of climate, geography and terroir, that is produced in the Dominican Republic in an unspoilt area between the sea and the mountains in the area of Azua and Baní. It lies in Ocoa Bay, in the south of the island, where the scents of plants and sea give an impression very special to white, red and rosé wines produced in the only Caribbean vineyard. This is a special excellence wine, part of the Ocoa Bay project – strongly backed by renowned Dominican architect Gabriel Acevedo and made possible by Gora Kardan Investment – which also includes an eco-resort, a sustainable farm holiday complex which is the first large investment in this area. But above all it is an eco-sustainable project aimed at the conservation of endemic plants that populate the area with the planting of more than 100,000 types of shrubs and protection of coral reefs and marine animal species. As for vine varieties, there are numerous ones successfully adapted to Ocoa Bay: French Colombard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Moscato de Hamburgo, Italy, Malvasía, Montepulciano, Alfonso Lavallée, Passerina, Syrah, Rebo, Cannonau, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc , Xarel-ló, Red Globe, Misiones and Senso. Currently, the visit in Ocoa Bay includes guided tours in the vineyard, wine tasting, tasting the sea-view restaurant that serves cuisine zero km of fresh fish and vegetables, relax in the infinity pool overlooking the bay or participation in private events in a dream location. Among the activities organized by the resort, as well as food and wine tastings, there is the attendance in the grape harvest and in numerous seminars or themed events. In the future there are also plans for a hotel-boutique, a club-house, the opening of other restaurants, conference halls, private villas and numerous tourist services.
