An old-fashioned hotel overlooking the scenic Lake Como. And inside a Gourmet restaurant for true food lovers
The Hotel Royal Victoria is a four stars hotel facing the lake, situated in the historical centre of Varenna, a charming medieval village and one of the most appreciated tourist destinations of lake Como. The Hotel Royal Victoria has very old traditions. Once a spinnery, Mrs Giuseppina Pezzini transformed it into a hotel calling it “Hotel Royal”. In 1838 the Queen of England stayed here and it was in her honour that the hotel changed its name into “Hotel Royal Victoria”. The recent renovations have preserved its XIX century aspect; the rooms offer all modern comforts while maintaining the atmosphere of a charming hotel. The bright and comfortable hall provide a refined and attractive atmosphere. The swimming-pool in the garden is the perfect place where you can relax after excursions in the marvellous surroundings. The Royal Gourmet restaurant, that can be reached also by boat thanks to a private wharf, with the executive chef Maurizio Lazzarin, is the pearl of the Hotel with a veranda with breathtaking view of Lake Como. Among the dishes proposed for the new season is a 36 month old parmesan fondue, crispy artichokes, creamy egg and spring truffles, the lemongrass steam potato ravioli with taleggio cheese and asparagus, the veal fillet with its jus, fois-gras, pomegranate and sponge with porcini mushrooms and the ice cream with strawberry varieties and crispy sesame. Not to miss on May the 19th the four-handed dinner signed by Maurizio Lazzarin and Claudio della Pedrina, the executive chef of the hotel Monopol of Saint Moritz, a special experience that combines creativity and tradition.
