Guest at the opening of the Italian restaurant Piadèra in Dubai, Chef Rubio proposes for each piadina a gift thrown to the Labour Camp workers.
After the launch of Pasto Sospeso in Rome, Chef Rubio doubles in the Middle East, thanks to the opening of the first restaurant of the Piadèra chain in Dubai tomorrow, May 12th. In less than 3 months the Italian initiative – in collaboration with Gabriele Rubini, alias Chef Rubio, and the writer Erri De Luca – has collected about 1,000 meals donated at the Roman Casetta Rossa. A considerable sum, which hopes to replicate in the United Arab Emirates right from tomorrow, when the entire proceeds of the drinks will be reinvested to prepare and deliver meals to workers from Asian countries and employees in the construction industry in so-called Labour Camps Dubai. From the days following, as required by the Italian tradition of solidarity of the Neapolitan Caffè Sospeso, for each meal eaten you can leave a voluntary offer for those who can not afford it. So, at the end of the day the collection of donations and the food surplus will be donated and delivered in Labour Camps directly from Piadèra staff, brand led by Matteo Bianchi with the support of a consortium of Italian and Arab investors. During the cooking-show inauguration open to public, Chef Rubio and the resident Chef Francesco Cavarretta will show the phases of preparation of dishes prepared according to tradition Italian 100% and 100% Halal, conforming them to the Muslim creed. The guest star dish will naturally be the piadina, with the variant based on olive oil and lard-free, prepared according to traditional recipes of Grandma Norina, authentic institution on the Adriatic coast, and today among Piadèra investors. “Made in Italy is a state of mind – says Chef Rubio – I am particularly happy to be able to export offering, together with the taste of Italian gastronomic tradition, a model of solidarity capable of balancing the uncompromising wave that is going through this period of history.”
