A toast with champagne on the 23rd floor will end New Year’s Eve at the luxurious Hotel Okura, which boasts two Japanese and 4 Michelin-star restaurants.
It is a special New Year that recalls the traditions of the Land of the Rising Sun but without having to take the plane to get to Japan and it will celebrate this night in Amsterdam at the Hotel Okura and its 3 gourmet restaurants. international inspiration at the Serre Restaurant (Bib Gourmand Michelin). But the truly exceptional experience is represented by the Ciel Bleu, bistellated restaurant located on the 23rd floor of Okura, thanks to the refined cuisine of Onno Kokmeijer, recently elected Chef of the Year from the Dutch edition of the Gault & Millau Guide. Also on the 23rd floor, the Twenty Third Bar awaits guests for an aperitif before dinner or to toast the New Year with champagne while enjoying the spectacular view of the fireworks
that illuminate the city’s sky and its canals. The champagne will be accompanied by the typical Dutch New Year’s sweets:
appelflappen (handkerchiefs of puff pastry filled with apples) and oliebollen (fried donuts filled with raisins and currants). Remaining on Japanese theme, in the afternoon of January, the 1st, hotel guests will experience the “ceremony of good-luck rice sweets”: Mochi, minced and crushed glutinous rice cakes to obtain a white and soft paste, will be prepared in front of those
present according to the ancient recipe – now reserved for important ceremonies and special occasions – and offered in various flavors.
