On the occasion of World Coffee Day Julius Meinl launches “Meet with a Poem”, to encourage the creation of significant moments in relationships.
An invitation to “Coffee Lovers” and budding poets from over 25 countries to put aside for a moment their dependence on their smartphone to connect with people and the surrounding environment in front of a steaming cup of coffee. This is the meaning of “Meet with a Poem”, the initiative of Julius Meinl – Austrian family company for over 150 years, ambassador in the world of Viennese coffee culture – reached the fourth edition this year. Thus, on the occasion of World Coffee Day on October, the 1st, in 25 countries it will be possible to enter one of the participating shops, write a poem together with your friends and get a special coffee in return. In the digital age and hyper-connection – with over 3 billion smartphone users around the world who monitor their mobile phones once every 12 minutes during the day and spend about 2 hours and 22 minutes a day on social media network – there is growing awareness of the need to disconnect to reconnect, spending quality time with one another. Despite their smartphone addiction, more and more people are engaging in creative activities as a form of self-expression and self-exploration; however, when it comes to relationships with others, there is still
a great deal of reliance on technology to replace meaningful and personal connections. And so here is the remedy by Julius Meinl: choosing, together with a friend, your favorite drawing between a classic espresso, a filter coffee or a Cold Brew coffee and take a moment to write a poem.
