A millennial natural cave is the focal point of Grotta Giusti, fascinating and elegant Spa Resort of Italian Hospitality Collection in Monsummano Terme.
From Giuseppe Giusti’s Tuscan poet’s country residence to Spa Resort of international renown, the nineteenth-century villa Grotta Giusti got in its foundation what Giuseppe Verdi called “the world’s eighth wonder”. A millennial cave, the largest in Europe, has been transformed into a Spa since 1849 and is now divided into three rooms with evocative names: Paradise, the most “fresh” area; Purgatory, with much of Limbo Lake, at medium temperature; and Hell, where humidity touches 98%. It is here, at about 34°, the salt-sulphate-alkaline terrarium thermal mineral waters, whose vapors represent a source of illness for respiratory, circulatory, osteo-muscular, nervous and skin disorders. Waters also represent the base of the treatments at the Grotta Giusti Spa and offer delightful whirlpools in the two outdoor swimming pools of the Resort. But besides being a renowned Spa center, the cave is the starting point for speleological explorations of the submerged part of the pond. Instructors and
divemasters lead divers (with patents) in dives that reach up to 18 meters to discover the places where thermal water is born. Also for those who do not practice diving there is still the possibility to dive into the pond always under the careful supervision of the instructors for a experience of total relaxation and well-being. But the whole complex of Grotta Giusti Spa Resort, immersed in the Tuscan countryside and surrounded by a lush and fragrant park thought by the architect and landscape artist Pietro Porcini in the early 1900s, is full of suggestions. Grotta Giusti also reopened last March after a restyling that gives it even more elegance.
Bright colors and new materials make the most of common environments and furnishings and the rooms and junior suites, redesigned while retaining the classic style but adding all the modern comforts. Interconnecting rooms were designed to help families stay but also rooms equipped for those traveling with their pets. New look also for the Giusti room, the Poeta bar and the La Veranda restaurant, where you can dine on the park or in absolute privacy in the new seating areas with a savor of recipes by chef Gianluca Braglia, a mix of Tuscan creativity and tradition, or tasting wines in a dedicated dining room.
