Through Faunacrystopolis, the irresistible Jaime Hayon once again brings his fantastic and unmistakable style to the Baccarat universe with a modern collection, on the border between design, art and decoration.
More than 10 years after his first collaboration with Baccarat, Jaimie Hayon unleashes his creativity with a touch of humor and composes a happy tribe of six animals with multiple geographical and cultural origins: an owl with a mesmerizing look, a fox with a pointed muzzle, an adorable koala, a rabbit with straight ears, a mischievous monkey, a carefree frog. A “carnival of animals” with which the Spanish artist and designer emphasizes the importance for humanity of living in harmony with Nature, updating and pushing the tradition of the crystal animal towards more contemporary lines. The Faunacrystopolis collection, in a limited and numbered edition of 25 pieces per animal, is available to order: each of the “sculptures” requires
the work of 15 craftsmen of the Manufacture for the sole fusion and meticulous processing, overlapping and joints, the finishes accessories and the work on the marble of the pedestal, which with its density throws the crystal towards the light, almost an aspiration for stability in the face of current perturbations. The colors of the Baccarat palette reach shades that are now saturated and electric, now more nuanced and transparent, the volumes are full, the lines all inspired by roundness. The dimensions in height vary from 46 to over 52 cm, the weight varies between 22 and 24 kilos for each specimen. In addition to
the imaginative menagerie, Faunacrystopolis includes a brand new version of the timeless Zenith chandelier (50-piece limited edition), a set of engraved tumblers, the monkey candelabra, the blue bird, the Japanese-inspired Maneki-Neko and the first foray of Hayon in jewels with the reinterpretation of the Baccarat Pop ring. In a fruitful balance between the designer’s creativity and the Maison’s heritage, these precious figures pay homage to biodiversity and reaffirm the importance of protecting the environment around us. So much so that from Paris to Tokyo, New York, via London, Moscow, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing, the carnival of animals will cross the oceans to bring its message to every continent throughout the year.
