Relais & Châteaux ‘s 2016 edition Gourmet Festival expects 43 gourmet meetings this year in 24 stately homes along the Italian peninsula. Young talents and emerging chefs will welcome star chefs and cooks coming from abroad in their kitchens, by offering their own team the unique opportunity to learn new cooking techniques, experiment unusual combinations of flavours and compare different food cultures. The Gourmet Festival 2016 edition opened on Friday Jan 8th in Breuil-Cervinia (Aosta) by the Hermitage Hotel&Spa, where local chef Roberto Pession hosted Andrea Campani, Executive chef of Il Borro in San Giustino
Valdarno (Pisa). The union between the local mountain food culture of Valle D’Aosta and the genuinity of Tuscany’s flavours marked the beginning of an adventure which will travel throughout the Country in the coming months, by praising regional traditions and cheering guests with pleasant parenthesis of the French, Greek, Polish and Moroccan traditions. Out of these meetings, 43 original 4+ hand menùs will originate, in which the flavours and the products dear to the guest will be given value by meeting the taste, the know-how and the traditions of faraway Lands and by giving birth to ever new experiencies: competition among multi-star cuisines, original marriages between elusive sea smells and solid inland traditions, unusual Fusion experiences
which will warm up the metropolitan tables with the exotic twist of spices. The Gourmet Festival reaches 2016 in its third edition after the successes gained in previous years and an ever growing participation both on the part of stately homes and the public. To stress the importance of fine drinking as an important cultural and sensorial complement of a high level culinary experience, in 2016 Gourmet Festival will boast the participation of an exceptional partner: Moët & Chandon, the world’s most loved champagne. Byword of the oldest tradition and the most modern pleasure, alongside Relais & Châteaux, it shares the passion for excellence in a constant balance between tradition, research and sublimation of taste.
