Sweet awakening among the vineyards at the Relais Russiz Superiore Capriva del Friuli, in the Collio: created by restoring some old buildings, used as a lodge, of the Russiz Superiore winery that Marco Felluga has left to his son Roberto, among the most prestigious estates of Friuli, has 7 elegantly furnished rooms, perfect in every detail. It is located in the heart of Russiz Superiore estate, the historic winery purchased by the family in 1967, which boasts Roman origins and still shows the two-headed eagle symbol, emblem of the prince Torre Tasso, one of the first noble families arrived here in 1273. Noble symbols, noble wines, noble families have lived here over the time up to Roberto Felluga, who currently represents the fifth generation of the Marco Felluga family in the world of wine. The Relais, surrounded by 100 hectares of the estate (of which 50 are vineyards, exceptionally suited to the production of white wines), stands on the top of the hill, in a beautiful location from which one can embrace at a glance the rolling hills of Collio. These face Slovenia from the east side and the Adriatic sea from the west side: a very special land, protected to the north by the Julian Alps, and known for ponca or flysch – a particular stratification of marl and sandstone that originated about 100 million years ago in Eocene era from the erosion process and which is today particularly suitable for the cultivation of the vineyards. The mild climate is favored by the proximity of the Adriatic Sea: a long reign of a spectacular coral reef; now from this area one will easily reach the most famous beach destinations in the region, as Grado with its lovely lagoon and Portopiccolo Sistiana. The spacious and sunny rooms of the Relais Russiz Superiroe – all with terrace or private garden- are named after some of the most prestigious wines of the maison. On the ground floor, the room Picolit communicates with the double room Sauvignon, but it can also be rented individually. As double rooms there are the sophisticated Molamatta and the Rosso Riserva degli Orzoni, and upstairs the Carantan and Mongris rooms, together with the Col Disôre suite. The Relais offers not only a bed and breakfast service with a rich homemade breakfast with genuine local products, but you have the ability to directly access the spectacular underground cellar for aging of red wines, from autoctonous and international grapes, all with great structure.
