The Master Sommelier of Delta Air Lines offers an exclusive selection of wines to passengers flying on Delta One class between Italy and the United States.
Carefully chosen by Andrea Robinson, Master Sommelier of Delta Air Lines, the labels proposed by the new wine list 2017 of American carrier change on a seasonal basis with two red and two white different available every three months and also include an Italian dessert wine. During the summer – June to August – one of the white will be replaced by a refreshing French rosé on Delta flights from Italy to Atlanta, New York-JFK and Detroit. The bottles on board include the Terra de Touros by the Portuguese region of the Tejo and the bordeaux Esprit de Pavie. During the year, the list also offers a range of Spanish wines, including Vivanco Rioja Crianza for winter. Throughout the season 2017 to Business Class passengers it is also served champagne and, after the main meal, a dessert wine or port. In spring and summer after dinner you can drink Brachetto d’Acqui Banfi Rosa Regale. The quality of the wines selected for Delta is such that the port included in the previous paper, the Calem 10 Year Old Tawny, was recently awarded a silver medal at the “U.K. Cellar in the Sky Award”. “The wine program of the company is one of a kind – explains Andrea Robinson – and provides the opportunity to offer passengers a variety of wines from the region, including those of emerging small family-run wineries. Each menu includes a rich variety of locally sourced proposals and selected wines match perfectly with the flavors of the dishes and the cooking style of the season”. Each label has in fact been selected to accompany seasonal menus served on board Delta flights. For spring, the proposals offered by the company include loin of lamb in herb crust with lemon risotto, braised endive and olives along with wild mushroom sauce, or ravioli with radicchio and cheese topped with raisins and pine nuts. The wines chosen for the next 12 months are as well from Italy, Portugal and France and also from Argentina and the United States. Every year Andrea Robinson tastes 1,600 different wines from around the world to create the selection of Delta Air Lines wines. In addition to the Premium Programme, the master sommelier care for the company also Essential Delta One menu, a menu for South America and fourth menu for US transcontinental routes. The passengers of Delta premium cabins consume, every year, more than 2.5 million bottles of wine, champagne and port.
