Stars shine so high in South Tyrol, so distant but so bright that it seems to touch them with hands. And not for the way to say, because it’s right here, precisely in Sarentino, that there is the “tallest” starred restaurant in Italy. A superb 1622-meter-long restaurant whose name already tells all its poetry, beauty and philosophy: Terra – The Magic Place, the vital fulcrum of Auener Hof Dining Home. In this charming Mansion associated with Relais & Châteaux, the hosts take care of their guests making them
feel at the center of this small and enchanting world. “This is not a hotel – they explain – but a special place for gourmets, connoisseurs, wine enthusiasts, travelers, discoverers, curious …”. So, chef Heinrich Schneider personally collects wild herbs for the menu, which is served on hand-made ceramic plates by different artists, unique pieces as unique are his creations. As well as the atmosphere in the restaurant Terra – 2 Michelin stars, the first in 2008 and the second in 2016 – where even the cusine
brigade and the room staff contribute to making the guests truly feel at home. Thanks to the impression of Gisela Schneider, sister of the chef, sommelier, but above all the real soul of the Mansion, of which she has personally chosen most of the furniture, the ones that merge more with the beauty of the surrounding nature and that they relocate to strong values of family tradition, because Auener Hof Dining Home is nothing more than the result of extensive renovations of the original hotel of Heinrich and
Gisela’s parents. The Mansion has 8 double rooms and 2 suites, a lounge with fireplace, a bar, a lounge area, a Spa and of course a dining room with a beautiful wine cellar. Strongly anchored to the land and to the concepts of eco-sustainability and biodiversity, the restaurant proposes for each season its Terra Experience Menu consisting of small culinary art works that not only took the 2 Michelin stars but also 17 points in the Gault Milau Guide in 2016.
