Delta CareStandard procedures have been in place since August to optimize levels of hygiene and protection before, during and after the flight.
Delta CareStandard is the new program of the American carrier – for now the only one able to connect Italy with the United States – created to provide a higher level of cleanliness, guarantee more space and offer a safer service throughout the journey. Always a world leader in safety, Delta Air Lines has moved very quickly since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic to transform the industry’s standard of cleanliness and offering passengers more space on board while traveling. Delta offered a select number of flights from the United States to Europe during the first part of the summer; the Milan Malpensa / New York JFK connection, operating three times a week, was restarted from August, the 3rd, while the three-weekly connection from Rome Fiumicino to JFK was restored in September. Flight operations will be increased starting from October, with 5 flights a week to and from both cities.
In detail, the Delta CareStandard program provides, among other things:
- Sanitation of the aircraft before each flight
- State-of-the-art air circulation systems with HEPA filters, which are able to retain more than 99.99% of fine particles in the air, including viruses and bacteria, on all transatlantic flights (and on almost the entire Delta network)
- Reduction of capacity throughout the aircraft to ensure on-board distancing between passengers with central seat lock
- Queue-forward boarding to reduce the number of times passengers need to pass by
- Temporary rationalization of the on-board catering service
- Direct supply of materials directly to passengers when available, including hand sanitizer and wellness kits
As part of the health and safety measures, the use of a mask is mandatory for passengers and staff. Delta has also increased the level of flexibility of bookings. To change an existing booking, simply log into the “My trips” section on delta.com. At check-in and in the Delta Sky Club lounges, distance is guaranteed by special signs on the floor and plexiglass screens. (Info: delta.com).
