The Château d’Aymavilles turns on the lights on the occasion of a special Christmas pre-opening from 22 December 2021 to 9 January 2022.
For Christmas, the Aosta Valley presents a special gift: a preview to discover the castle of Aymavilles, known for its dual medieval and Baroque identity and for its panoramic position visible at the entrance to the Cogne Valley. From 22 December to 9 January 2022 (from 10 to 18) it will in fact be possible to visit the castle – where complex restoration works have just been completed – and appreciate its new look immersed in a suggestive and sparkling Christmas atmosphere. A scenography that will allow this elegant residence, guardian of art and history, to return to shine in anticipation of the definitive spring opening. Located in the municipality of Aymavilles on a hill surrounded by vineyards along the road to Cogne, the castle concentrates medieval and baroque phases in its external appearance, the result of the architectural initiatives of the various members of
the Challant family. The great and careful restoration just completed was guided by the intent to tell the history of the château through the philological recovery of the building and the salient phases of its transformation, linked to the different families who lived there. The goal is to evoke the passion for collecting of Vittorio Cacherano, the last heir of the Challant house and owner of the castle, through the display of the important and heterogeneous collection of the Académie Saint-Anselme. On December, the 25th, the castle will be closed, while on January, the 1st, it will open only in the afternoon from 1pm to 6pm. Tickets can be purchased online from early December at midaticket.it/eventi/castelli-della-val – le-daosta. The cost of the tickets, which includes the accompanied visit (max 25 people), is € 5.00 (full), € 3.00 (reduced 6-18 years), 0-6 years free. To access the castle, it is necessary to have a green COVID-19 certification (GREEN PASS).
